"We have life, what are we afraid of?"

Discussing a Christian response to fear

Christians are not unique today when it comes to fear, but maybe we should be. As the coronavirus pandemic has raged across the globe, Christians everywhere seemed to act in lockstep with everyone else, they were afraid. Those that weren’t fearful were quickly vilified and accused of ‘not loving their neighbour.’

Because the life of the Christian is hidden in Christ, Jens Zimmermann discusses the role of fear in the Christian life. Why are Christians so afraid today?

Ed Gerber frames the problem this way, “when the Christian is fearing the things of this world it’s because, in a sense, the Gospel has not become sufficiently real to us, existentially.”

Watch this clip from our previous episode. Jens shares a story from the early church in Rome.
